Glen Cooper has spent the past 10 years developing web-based solutions, leading projects and teams, and working with cutting-edge technology on the Microsoft platform. Most recently Glen has specialized in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and related technologies. Since January of 2006, he has been architecting and deploying production systems on the SharePoint 2007 platform.
One of Glen's greatest strengths is his ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals. Whether gathering requirements, working with development teams, or delivering training, he is able to communicate effectively at an appropriate level for the situation.
Prior to starting his own consulting firm, Glen was the Chief Solutions Architect for Resolute Solution Corporation's Information Worker group. With a mix of responsibilities ranging from architecture and implementation to training and management, this position required technical expertise as well as strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
Over the course of his career Glen has always believed strongly in adapting to the unique needs of each new project. He has consistently placed flexibility and customer satisfaction as top priorities.
Glen believes that as a consultant it is his job to understand the business need, not his client's job to understand technology.
Recent Achievements
Most recently Glen assisted American Express with the architecture and deployment of SharePoint 2007 as their enterprise collaboration platform. This complex project required Glen to work with numerous stakeholders to demonstrate SharePoint's capabilities through a series of business scenarios. In just 2 short months he demonstrated 10 business scenarios including custom workflow, document management, Lotus Notes migration, and more.
In parallel, Glen worked with American Express' operations team to design and propose an architecture and management approach that would scale to support 80,000 users. The flexible architecture proposed addressed availability and scalability requirements that enabled American Express to easily grow the environment as their user base grows.
In early 2006, Glen worked with Microsoft Corporation to develop one of the very first SharePoint 2007-based portals. This portal leveraged many new features on the SharePoint platform including workflow, content management and publishing, document conversions and RSS. In just 4 months, using beta technology, Glen led a small team of developers in implementing this solution.
As one of the first production portals deployed on the SharePoint 2007 platform, Glen had the opportunity to work directly with the product team. According to one SharePoint product manager the solution architected and developed by Glen and his team was the first to fully utilize the feature set of the 2007 platform.
